Maricla Pennesi examines how digitalization can impact on the tax system

The technological evolution and the changes in the business model that the multinational groups and SMEs are facing, cannot be separated from a stable and clear context in the regulatory sphere, especially for the tax legislation.

The conference The challenge of digitalization: impacts on business and the tax system (La sfida della digitalizzazione: impatti sul business e sul sistema fiscale), organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy (AmCham), explores the evolution of corporate taxation following the spread of digitalization, comparing the possible risks and the opportunities present in an ever-changing economic scenario.

Maricla Pennesi, Andersen European Head of Tax expert in digital tax, comments on the regulatory impacts of technological expansion on the activities of enterprises operating in traditional sectors and companies offering digital services. The analysis considers the European scenario of the international project Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS), aimed at countering the phenomenon of international tax evasion by multinational companies through shared standards, with particular focus on the Italian market.

Fabrizia Lapecorella, General Director of the Finance Department, Ministry of Economy and Finance, participates in the meeting as speakers, analyzing the Digital Tax at OECD and G20 levels.
