Maurizio Onza

Maurizio combines academic and professional activity: he is a Professor of Commercial Law at the Università Europea of Rome, Department of Law, and a lawyer specializing in judicial and extrajudicial assistance of companies, both Italian and foreign.

More specifically, he deals with corporate transactions, including the reorganization of corporate groups, including generational transitions; the legal and economic structuring of relationships between companies and lenders; and the circulation of shareholdings in companies listed and not listed on regulated markets. Furthermore, he advises several companies on restructuring their governance and ownership.

He has drafted opinions on the circulation of the banking business, shareholding circulation in cooperative and cooperative banks, banks and listed companies governance, payment intermediation, generational succession statutes, para-social pacts, and companies’ financial structure. He has also assisted his clients in social responsibility actions in the waste disposal sector.

He has experience as an arbitrator and member of bodies in liquidation proceedings of banks and financial intermediaries.

He consistently publishes articles in the leading national and international journals of corporate law. He is the author of monographs, articles, and essays, collaborating with the research division of Consob (the Italian Securities and Exchange Commission) and Confindustria Brescia (Brescia Industrial Federation).

Maurizio is a member of the National Observatory of Corporate Law for the reform of partnerships. In 2024 he was appointed Commissioner of the competition, by examinations, for 400 posts of ordinary magistrate (d.m. April 8, 2024) and Member of the Maximum Commission of Corporate Law – Notary Council of the Districts of Rome, Velletri and Civitavecchia.

From 2016 to 2024, he was Full Professor of Commercial Law at the University of Brescia.
