{"id":6984,"date":"2019-01-11T16:31:51","date_gmt":"2019-01-11T15:31:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/it.andersen.com\/new-limit-on-cash-payments-by-non-residents\/"},"modified":"2020-06-11T18:04:32","modified_gmt":"2020-06-11T16:04:32","slug":"new-limit-on-cash-payments-by-non-residents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/it.andersen.com\/en\/new-limit-on-cash-payments-by-non-residents\/","title":{"rendered":"New limit on cash payments by non-residents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2019 Budget Law raised <strong><u>from \u20ac 10.000 to \u20ac 15.000<\/u><\/strong> the maximum limit for cash payments made\u00a0<strong>by non-resident citizens<\/strong> in relation to so-called <strong>&#8220;tourism-related transactions&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The new limit applies to payments made by non-resident citizens &#8211; <strong>both EU and non-EU<\/strong> &#8211; in relation to purchases of goods and services from operators listed in art. 22 and art. 74-ter of Presidential Decree 633\/1972 (retailers, hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, etc.) resident in the territory of Italian State.<\/p>\n<p>In order to accept cash payments by non-residents in derogation from the limits normally foreseen in the territory of Italian State (Euro 3,000), <strong>resident operators<\/strong> are required to send a special one-off preventive communication to the Revenue Agency.<\/p>\n<p>For each individual operation it is also necessary that resident operators:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>acquire a copy of customers&#8217;passports and a self-declaration from them that certifies their citizenship and residence outside the territory of the State;<\/li>\n<li>deposit the amount collected into a dedicated current account within the first business day following collection, and present to the financial intermediary a copy of the prior communication transmitted to the Revenue Agency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Andersen &amp; Legal professionals are at your disposal to provide you with further information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2019 Budget Law raised from \u20ac 10.000 to \u20ac 15.000 the maximum limit for cash payments made\u00a0by non-resident citizens in relation to so-called &#8220;tourism-related transactions&#8221;.
