{"id":27808,"date":"2025-01-16T17:10:51","date_gmt":"2025-01-16T16:10:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/it.andersen.com\/?p=27808"},"modified":"2025-01-22T10:17:33","modified_gmt":"2025-01-22T09:17:33","slug":"digital-nomad-visa-in-italy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/it.andersen.com\/en\/digital-nomad-visa-in-italy\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital Nomad Visa in Italy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Italian government has finally introduced the Digital Nomad Visa for <strong>Digital Nomads<\/strong> and <strong>Remote Workers<\/strong> who choose to come and live and work in Italy.<\/p>\n<h2>Regulatory References<\/h2>\n<p>With the Decree n. 79 of 29\/02\/2024, which came into force on 5 April 2024, the provision of the Law Decree n. 4\/2022, adding the letter q-bis) to Art. 27, paragraph 1 of the Immigration Act (Legislative Decree n. 286\/1998).<\/p>\n<h2>Scope of the disposal<\/h2>\n<p>The Decree determines the requirements and the procedure for the entry and stay in Italy of non-EU citizens who perform highly qualified work using technological tools that allows remote work. The beneficiaries of this regulation can come to Italy as self-employed persons (digital nomads) or as employees (remote workers), even for a company not established in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>Digital Nomads Visa apply for two work profiles:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Digital Nomads<\/strong> &#8211; freelancers using technology to work from anywhere<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remote Workers<\/strong> &#8211; employees with a work contract who perform their duties remotely<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Digital Nomad Visa falls under the &#8220;extra-quota&#8221; category. This means that it is not subject to the entry quotas that the Italian Government defines on an annual basis via the <em>Decreto Flussi<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>The non-EU citizen that intends to apply for the Digital Nomad Visa has to meet the several requirements:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>minimum annual income of \u20ac 25.000<\/li>\n<li>health insurance covering the entire period of stay in Italy<\/li>\n<li>proof of accommodation in Italy in line with the minimum requirement foresees by the Italian Law<\/li>\n<li>minimum of six months of work experience in the same industrial sector related to the employment activity that has to be performed in Italy<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><u>Only for Remote Workers<\/u>, an employment or self-employment contract or employment binding offer in accordance with the requirement to carrying out an activity that requires the possession of one of the requirements foresees by the EU Blue Card:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>three-year university degree (3 years)<\/li>\n<li>post-secondary qualification of at least 3 years<\/li>\n<li>an attested higher qualification of at least 5 years&#8217; professional experience<\/li>\n<li>an attested higher qualification of at least 3 years&#8217; professional experience (acquired within the previous 7 years) in the field of IT and communication<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Procedure<\/h2>\n<p>The work permit (<em>Nulla Osta<\/em>) is not required, and the entry visa can be requested directly at the relevant Italian Consulate abroad. Once the visa has been issued the non-EU citizen can entry in Italy and apply for the Permit of Stay within 8 days. At the submission the applicant will receive a temporary permit (submission receipt) allows him\/her to stay and work in Italy while waiting for the issuance of the final permit.\u00a0When the permit request is submitted, the Immigration Office will schedule an appointment to take fingerprints. During the biometric procedure, the authority will verify the requirements and the documents already submitted to the Italian Consulate in order to issue the final permit.\u00a0The permit will have a valid of 12 months and can be renewed if the conditions and the requirements for the initial issue are still met.\u00a0The Digital Nomad Visa allows the family reunion applicable only for spouse and children under 18 y.o.<\/p>\n<h2>Tax and Social Security obbligations<\/h2>\n<p>The respect of the tax and social security obligations will be verified and in case of not compliance the permit of stray will be cancelled or not extended.\u00a0Tax and social security facilitations could be granted according to the length of stay in Italy and in of the country of origin\/employment.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Andersen in Italy can assist you in verifying your eligibility to apply for the Digital Nomad Visa and guide you through the entire procedure from the beginning, guiding you in the preparation of the application and the documents up to the final issuance of the Permit of Stay.
